We went to the obstetrician's office today and came home with our baby's very first baby pictures! By my reckoning, the baby is at 8 weeks and 2 days gestational age (which means I'm considered to be 10 weeks and 2 days pregnant). It was wild to watch the baby on the ultrasound machine — it was moving all around, practically doing somersaults! Here are the pictures:


This is the better of the two pictures. It's like anybody else's ultrasound pictures: a scrambled black and white mumbo-jumbo where the parents point at it and proudly exclaim "there's the head!" and everybody else looks at it and says "huh?" This is the other picture. Here you're looking at the baby from the front. I sure wouldn't have guessed it if the doctor hadn't said so, but its face is facing you. The doctor pointed at the head and said "there's its eye". Okay....
